At PlayPoint Social Games are organized daily to enable PlayPoint Patrons to connect and play with each other.

Social Game Format

The PlayPoint Badminton Social Games are organized in two formats:

Groups of 6
This format extends for 2 hours with games of 21 points, players rotate after each game, each player gets to play a minimum of 4 games and 9 high quality shuttles are provided by PlayPoint, as part of the per player participation fee.
Groups of 4
This format extends for 1 hour with games of 21 points, players swap sides after each game, each player gets to play a minimum of 2 games and 4 medium quality shuttles are provided by PlayPoint, as part of the per player participation fee.

PlayPoint encourages patrons to suggest other variations and endeavors to ensure these get suitably accommodated.

A sufficient number of badminton courts are allocated for the Badminton Social Games daily, depending on the number of participants.

Socialite Skill Levels

Groupings for the Badminton Social Games are organised according to the skill levels of the Socialites, to ensure “an even playing field” for all. For this purpose, PlayPoint undertakes a self- assessment of each Socialites skill level and groups them as:

⦁ Intermediate Advanced
⦁ Intermediate
⦁ Casual

These social games are usually organised every evening between 7-9PM. Additionally, morning social games are also organised on weekends between 8-10AM. PlayPoint encourages its Socialites to suggest other time slots, as convenient to them, for other social games to be organised.

Self-Assessment Table for Skill Levels

PlayPoint has adopted the following self-assessment table to determine the groupings based on the Socialites skill levels:

  • Players who have mastered all shots of the game with no discernible weaknesses.
  • Able to play all shots with a high level of consistency and with very few unforced errors.
  • Exceptional technical ability with advanced tactics.
  • Ability to rally, move opponents and create openings to finish points
  • Players with competitive edge, able to put up a good fight and return most shots.
  • Able to rally, employ good tactics, execute, and receive all badminton shots.
  • Good control of the shuttle with some tactics to exploit opponents’ weaknesses.
  • Backhand and court position are potential weaknesses.
  • Smashes lack of power, backhands are weak, and shots can be inconsistent and inaccurate.
  • Players with typically more than a year of badminton under their belt.
  • Able to execute and receive basic badminton shots and sustain rallies.
  • Basic use of tactics.
  • Working on control and power.
  • Lack of footwork and struggle to play backhand shots are potential weaknesses
  • Players learning to execute and receive the fundamental badminton strokes e.g. low serve, smash & drop shots, but can participate in a competitive rally.
  • No/little prior experience of playing badminton.
